What a way to kickstart our new spring term by announcing this week, Nursery's star of the week and it  is Elliott!! Elliott received this award as he has only just joined Nursery and he is already making new friendships and showing lots of confidence trying new activities. We are so proud of you Elliott keep up the good work!!.

PE Bodyparts

We had such a fun PE lesson this week our theme was body parts and we were learning how to balance whilst standing still and on the move, we got to take part in some exciting activities such as we had to stand still and balance on one foot which we found tricky and some of us kept falling over!! We also got to take part in the bean bag body balance we had to place a beanbag on our head and move around without it falling off and we had to balance the beanbag on different parts of our body eg arm and move around the space backwards sideways and we had to make sure that the bean bag did not fall. We found it a little tricky but we kept on practising and our balance skills are definitely getting better!!

Snuggle box

Well done to Elliott this week who gets the opportunity to take our snuggle box home, Elliott gets to enjoy some hot chocolate, biscuits, and a story to share with his grown-ups. We can not wait to see your pictures and for you to tell us all about the story!!

Valentines Day

Our school Council organised a Valentines themed day for all the children at Blackfell. Our Valentines theme was about sharing positivity and kindness throughout the school. We had a lovely Valentine’s Day lunch and shared cards with the children alongside some spot prize when they were caught doing something kind for their peers or teachers. The children all had a wonderful day! We would like to thank you for your very kind donations, all money raised was going towards Washington MIND to support people in the community with mental health.

PE Busy Bees

This term in PE our learning focus is ball skills. this weeks theme was called Busy Bees and we were learning how to develop stopping a rolling ball. We started off with our warm up we all had to pretend that we were bee's flying around and collecting pollen, we had to fly high and low in different directions whilst avoiding our friends. We then played an activity called rolling pollen we each had a yellow ball and pretended it was pollen, we then had to roll the ball along the floor using hand to hand, we then had to roll the ball in front of us and then try and stop it with our hands. We had great fun in our PE lesson keep an eye out each week to see how we are developing our ball kills in Nursery.

PE-Grasshoppers

For all of this term we are focusing on our ball skills. This week our theme was grasshoppers, we began with a 10 minute warm -up recapping on what a safe space looks like and how we can keep ourselves safe during our PE lesson.  We played a game called jumping grasshoppers we each had a large ball which we had to hold using both of our hands, we were set different tasks to do eg we had to pretend that our ball was the grasshopper we had to bounce the ball to the ground and catch it after one bounce. We then had to throw our ball just above head height and try and catch it that task was a little tricky but after a few attempts some of us were successful!! We really enjoyed our PE lesson this week!!.
