Position and Direction

This week during Maths we have taken our learning outdoors. We worked with a friend to create a set of instructions based on using our footsteps as co-ordinates. The children really enjoyed finding a start point on the yard and writing their sets of co-ordinates for other children to follow. We also recapped our knowledge of clockwise and anti-clockwise turns.

The Daily Mile

As part of our exercise in school we are taking part in the daily mile challenge. As a class we have loved taking some time outside of the classroom to challenge ourselves and improve our fitness levels.

Times Table Champions

We spent some time this week playing on Times Tables Rockstars. We accessed lots of games to help us develop our times table knowledge. Some of us decided to work together to help quiz one another.

Archery

As part of our be healthy week we took part in an archery lesson. We enjoyed putting our skills to the test and completing a range of fitness challenges along the way. We really enjoyed testing out our new PE equipment.

Telling Time

This week we have been looking at time during our maths lessons. We spent some time developing our understanding of telling the time to 5 minutes and then to 1 minute. The children had fun with exploring clocks and working out the different ways we show time.

Let's Stick Together

This week during music we have been looking at a singer from Washington called Bryan Ferry. The children have been listening to his song Let's Stick Together and thinking about what they can hear. We also loved having a little dance as well.

The Light Bulb Invention

To help with our understanding of who Joseph Swan is we spent some time looking at the advantages and disadvantages of the invention of the light bulb. We made some bright colourful posters full of facts to show off our new knowledge.

Van Gogh Starry Night

During our unit Van Gogh we have been practicing our sketching and painting skills. This week our focus has been on the famous 'Starry Night' painting. We used sketching pencils to copy the painting in the style of Van Gogh. We enjoyed using Van Gogh's unique style to develop our own skills.

Speed Shot

This week we took part in a speed shot competition. We were all given three attempts to kick the ball as hard as a we could. Some of us scored some super quick scores! Our winners will be announced soon.

Light Box

In DT we have been using our understanding of circuits to create our very own light boxes. We planned and designed the circuit and then created a cube net which we then put together. We are really happy with our final designs.

Electricity

During our electricity unit we began experimenting with simple circuits. We used a range of different pieces of equipment to help us understand how electricity flows to light a light bulb.

Outdoor Learning

What a fun afternoon we have had engaging with lots of outdoor learning activities to help develop our team work skills. We took part in a range of activities including archery, den building and learnt a whole new range of skills. We tackled our fears, climbed some trees but most importantly we learnt the importance of working together.

European Neighbours

This week during Geography we have been searching through the maps of Europe to identify different countries. We enjoyed looking for the different locations, even the ones which were small and tricky to find.

Excel

Our new computing unit this term is Excel. We have been using Purple Mash to explore how to use Excel. We experimented through merging cells, adding and subtracting numbers and we even create a small online zoo through adding pictures and changing the colours of different cells.
