Emotive Language

In literacy we have been looking at myths and have begun to create our own. We used thesauruses to help us improve our vocabulary and create dark and light atmosphere.

Pollution

As part of our science we have been looking at the different types of pollution. We worked in groups to find out the causes and effects on our environment of fossil fuels, plastic pollution, air pollution, litter and water pollution. We then presented our findings to the class.

Suspense

In Literacy we have been been working on creating our own Anglo-Saxon Myth. In the build up part of our story we have been working on building up suspense by a variety of sentence length and different vocabulary. We then shared this with our friends. We were all on the edge of our seats.

Creation Story

In RE we have been learning about The Creation Story. After learning about what was created each day we works in small groups to recreate our own representations of The Creation Story. We have created our own comic.

Keeping Clean and Being a Good Friend

Today we have been joined by two nurses from Growing Healthy. We began our morning by keeping clean charades. We each took turns in picking a card and acting out what we should do to keep clean. Pauline then talked to us about how we could do this and why we should. We learnt how to keep our hair, teeth, skin and feet all clean and healthy. We then talked about healthy friendships and the effects of bullying in later life. We found our morning fun and we have learnt a lot from the nurses.

Tennis Week 1

We have began some expert coaching with tennis. This week we have been learning how to control the ball using our racket and taking part in some fun control games. We are looking forward to building our skills.

Coding

As part of our coding unit we created our own algorithm. We were able to set a background, introduce characters and make them change direction when they collide with another character.

Area

We have been looking at area in our Maths learning. We had to created a variety of shapes with a specific area using squares of paper. We enjoyed our first lesson looking at area.

Online Safety Day 2019

Today we have been learning about making the correct choices when on social media and the internet. We began our learning by playing a online safety game on the CEOPS website. We had to show our avatar the correct choices to make when they bumped into obstacles.  Next we went on to answer questions from Alfie who was unsure how to be online. We told him the right decision to make and why. We then created our own tablets with a problem friends could encounter when online, offered two possible solutions and the right solution for them to make. We even created our own avatar.

Quad Kids Practise

In preparation for our next festival we have been practising some athletics. We worked in teams to practise long jump and hurdles. We had a class race and managed everybody to do the hurdles in less than 47 seconds! Get ready for the competition. Here we come!

RNLI

We had a visit from the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) who came to talk to us about staying safe in and around water. They taught us lots of important facts including: what the different colours of the flags mean and how this impacts our choices in the water, what the lifeguards do and what they wear so they can be easily spotted, what you should do if you ever find yourself in a difficult situation in water, and how to float correctly and call for help if you fall into cold water. We learnt lots of important, life-saving skills and were given leaflets to take away to remind us of what we were taught.

Year 4 Class Assembly

Year 4 enjoyed sharing their Autumn Term learning with friends and family. IT was amazing how much they fitted in to one term. They shared some songs they had worked on, Computing, Geography, History, RE and much, much more.

Anglo-Saxon Daily Life

We have been looking at a variety of sources that give us clues about Anglo-Saxon daily life. We could see that they were farmers and built their houses from wood and straw. We then used ipads and information sheets to research what they ate, wore and done for leisure. We enjoyed our looking into Anglo-Saxon daily life.

How to Brush your Teeth

Today in science we have been learning how to look after our teeth. We talked about our own experiences and then worked in small groups to sequence how you should brush our teeth. We then got practical and received our own toothbrush and tooth paste to practice with our friends how we brush our own teeth.
