Welcome To Nursery!

A warm welcome to our new Nursery children that have started Blackfell Primary School over the last couple of weeks. The children have had a fun time learning new routines and making new friends! The children have enjoyed exploring the indoor and outdoor environment. Take a look at the Nursery Children having lots of fun!!.

Our 5'rs The Monkey

As part of our Personal, Social and Emotional Development during circle time we have      begun to learn about our 5 R's. This week we were introduced to the monkey He            represents 'R' for risk-taking and trying something new that you haven't tried before or something you were a little unsure of. The monkey helps us to be brave! Each day we all take risks and feel proud when we succeed. We talked about what sort of risks we take in nursery within our learning time and how we have all tried something new since we started nursery in        September. Well done Nursery!

 

 

We are Superhero's

We have been using our creative skills in Nursery and making ourselves into Superhero's!! We all got to paint a paper bowl and used different kinds of materials to use for our features!! We had so much fun! Take a look at us working hard we wonder if you can guess what superhero we will be!!

Making Hedgehog Bread!

Since Autumn is upon us here in Nursery we decided to make some hedgehog bread! We put our aprons on and made sure our hands were nice and clean, we poured the flour into a bowl we talked about how it felt and what we could smell.. We then added some water and took it in turns to mix the ingredients together, we then moulded the mixture with our hands into a shape of a hedgehog using a fork to make the prickles.. Once the bread was all baked we then each got the opportunity to spread a topping on, some of us chose jam, butter or marmalade .. we then got to sit with our friends and enjoy our delicious hedgehog bread.. take a look at how much fun we had!!... 

 

Spooky Bat Sandwiches!!

For Halloween we decided in Nursery to make some spooky bat sandwiches! We learnt how to hold our cutting tools with control we really enjoyed spreading the jam on to the bread! we then used  a bat shaped cutter to cut our bread! We had so much fun! and really enjoyed sharing our spooky bat sandwiches with our friends! 

We will remember!!.

As a mark of respect we decided to make poppy’s to remember all the     soldiers that lost their lives 100 years ago!! In World War 1, We enjoyed   making our very own poppy to take in to our Remembrance assembly   where we sang songs and listened to some special poems and readings by  ks2 children. Booktime

'Max the Brave'

We were so happy in Nursery this week as we received a special gift! Our very own story book to take home! The story was called Max the Brave and it was about Max a fearless kitten who chased mice! We really enjoyed listening to the story and we found it really funny! We cant wait to share the story with our families.

Christmas Jumper Day

We are getting so excited for Christmas in Nursery!! We all got to wear our special Christmas jumpers!! We had a great morning doing lots of Christmas activities it was a great way to end our week!! 

What makes a good friend?

During our circle time we have been talking about our new friends and what makes a good friend! we came up with some excellent answers such as sharing, taking turns, being kind, listen, help each other! We decided to make our new friends a friendship bracelet we had the choice of making it with beads or pasta it was a little tricky to thread it onto the string but we all done a great job!! take a look at us making our friendship bracelets. 

Our visit to the school library

In Nursery we have been visiting our school library! We really enjoyed looking at all the different books, we then got to choose a book to take home and share with our grown up's! Once we had chosen our library book,  Miss Jackson and Miss Forrest read us a story which we really      enjoyed.. We are looking forward to visiting our school library each week!.

 

It's PE time in Nursery!!

We got to experience our first PE lesson in Nursery and we really enjoyed it!! We got the big colorful parachute out and played some fun games! We had to work as a team to get the balls off the parachute "That was hard work", we also got to play a game where Miss Jackson called one of our names and we had to run underneath the parachute that was great fun!! We really enjoyed our PE lesson our hearts were beating so fast!! Take a look at our fun PE lesson.

Our 5'Rs The Beaver!!

This week in circle time, the nursery children have been learning about another one of our 5 r's The Beaver! The children learnt that the     beaver stands for resourcefulness, the beaver helps the children to be     creative and be imaginative in their learning time, how to think to make or do things and how to show it to their  friends, the children thought how they had been creative this week in nursery and gave some great answers. Well done Nursery!!

Our 5R's The Fox!!

We have been learning about the 'Fox' and what he means to us. We found out that the Fox stands for Reflection.  We talked about some of the things we had been doing in our choosing time and how we could change the way we did it to make it even better the next time. Well done Nursery for sharing your thoughts and ideas!!

Antibullying week

'Choose Respect'

As part of our Anti-Bullying Week we introduced the children to the classic story about Elmer an elephant. The children have been learning about ‘Respect’ There was a range of activities for the  children to take part in such as making friends with the play dough, some of the children hosted a tea party for friends in our role play  area, the children worked together to build story's around Elmer.. The children had a great week working together on a number of activities they all showed kindness, shared toys, friendship. And most of all they all showed ‘Respect’ Take a look at the children's fun week! Well Done Nursery!.

 

Nursery's Christmas sing a long 

What a fantastic start to Nursery;s Christmas Festivities!! Nursery's Christmas sing a long!! The children have been practicing so hard with their singing the last few weeks and it certainly paid off! The children sang excellent and with so much confidence!! Miss Jackson and Miss Forrest are so proud of them all. Please take a look at the children in their sing-a-long, The children thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of their families.  

Festive cards

We have been working very hard the last couple of weeks in Nursery making our festive cards for our loved ones!! We got to choose what Christmas character we would like to make. We used a selection of materials but we especially  had  fun making the picture with our hands and paint!! Take a look at our special festive cards 

Congratulations Nursery!!

A massive congratulations to our new children on their fabulous start in their Nursery journey! Miss Jackson and Miss Forrest are so proud of everyone and how they have settled in to Nursery life!! Well done Nursery!! 

Our 5'rs The Elephant

We continued our learning of the 5'rs this week in circle time this week we focused on the elephant  we learnt that he represents R for             Relationships! We each got a turn to hold the elephant and talk about what makes us a good friend to others in Nursery, we gave some great answers such as we share with our friends, we take turns, we look after each other, we are kind and how we help each other, we are such good friends in Nursery!! 

 

Our 5r's The Penguin

This week in circle time we decided to look at the penguin and find out how he helps us in our learning time at Nursery! We found out that the penguin teaches us resilience and he helps us to have a go at different    activities, and to keep on trying till we have achieved what we wanted to do! We are already showing resilience in Nursery and we will continue to do so in our Blackfell Primary journey! 

 

Throwing and Catching!

We have been practising our throwing and catching skills in pe!!  First we had a little warm up– we had to jog on the spot touch our toes do star jumps we were really starting to feel warm and our hearts were starting to beat fast! We had to find a partner to work with, we all found it tricky to throw and catch the beanbag but after a few turns we really got the hang of it!!  We had so much fun we cant wait to see what we do in our next pe lesson!

 

What makes us happy!!

This week in circle time the Nursery children have been talking about what makes them happy? the children were very keen to share their thoughts such as playing with their friends, friends been kind, going to fun places with their families, playing with their favorite toys! and also coming to Nursery these things made all the Nursery children happy!! There were lots of smiling faces during circle time just what we like to see!! Well Done Nursery!

 

Antibullying Week 

'Choose Respect'

.To continue our theme 'Choose Respect' we got the children into a circle to talk about how to be a good friend to one another!! We are learning how to respect one another and the children are already showing good signs of this by sharing, taking turns listening to one another!! We have really enjoyed all the activities this week in Nursery. 

Snow Play

What a lovely way to end our week by going to the Washington Arts Centre to see a Christmas performance called the 'snow play'We were so excited to get on the bus and sit with our friends. When we got there we got to do some Christmas coloring. It was then time to watch the 'snow play' The story was about Mr Green who had came back home from his Christmas holidays to find that Mr White has moved in!! We found out that Mr White makes it snow all over even in the house!!! We laughed so much!! We really enjoyed watching the performance., please take a look at our pictures of our lovely morning.  .  

It is party time!!

We were so excited to come in to Nursery this morning as it was our Christmas party morning with reception we all came into Nursery with our party clothes on!! we all look fabulous!! Keep an eye out for our Christmas party pictures....
