Year 1 Spring 2020-21

Coming soon...

Welcome back!

We are really pleased to welcome back all of the children at Blackfell. Year 1 have made us so proud in the way they have returned to school life and participated in all the activities so far. They have demonstrated our 5'rs and certainly shown us how resilient they all are. In our P.S.H.E lessons we have been discussing any worries we might of had about returning to school. We also discussed  achievements we made at home. All of the children have all settled back into a routine quickly and we are so proud of each and everyone of them for coming back to restart their learning process in school with their friends!

What a fantastic time we are going to have! Well done Year 1!

A big thank you to everyone for everything you have done! Miss Henderson and Miss Brooks.

Easter cards!

We have been really busy creating our Easter cards for our families. We used paint to print either a chick or a bunny. We then selected lots of other materials to add the features and create a scene. We think they look amazing and can't wait to give our special handmade Easter card to our loved ones.

Well done Year 1! Happy Easter to Everyone!!!

Red Nose Day!

To celebrate 'Red Nose Day' we came to school dressed ready to do some sporting activities. The weather wasn't on our side but that wasn't going to stop us having 'fun'. We went onto the yard and we played 'Simon Says'. We all took a turn to say an action and if Simon didn't say we were out. Next we were put into teams and we took part in relay races. We listened to the action we needed to do to carry out our race and tried our best to do it. Some of us were better at running than jumping or skipping rather than hopping but we all took part and encouraged our team to do their best. Finally we played follow my leader and copied the action of the leader as they made their way around the yard. We all had so much 'fun' doing some exercises and we all enjoyed doing it with all of our friends!

Well done Year 1! You all worked well as a team! We are so pleased with all of you!

Wellbeing Wednesday!

Nature Explorers!

We have had a fantastic time pretending to be 'Nature Explorers' in our school grounds today. We were put into groups and used our worksheet to help us find lots of different things in our environment including insects and plants. As we explored the different areas we ticked off all of the different things we discovered. We found out which insects were living in the 'bug hotel' and which plants had started to grow. We also spotted an apple tree and discussed why the apples had holes in them and why some were on the ground. We had so much fun discovering nature within our school grounds and worked hard as a team. We even had time to run off some energy and go back to class feeling refreshed to finish off some important jobs that we needed to complete ready for Easter for our families! Watch this space to see what we have been up to! We have been so busy on our wellbeing Wednesdays!
